In 1971 John Goddard, the current company Director, co-founded GRS Engineering in a lock-up unit in Worthing. The company quickly progressed to a small industrial unit in
Shoreham-by-sea and remained there for three years. In 1976 due to expansion GRS moved to Storrington. The company continued to expand from a single factory through to four adjacent
units on the same site.
In June 2000 GRS moved once more to a purpose built factory in Ashington, West Sussex. Our floor space has doubled to 22,000 square feet, allowing for further expansion and an
increase in turnover.
GRS specialise in fine limit sheet metal work. Our in house team can assist with design and also provide prototype production together with full tooling facilities and finishing facilities including powder coating, wet
spraying, Iron phosphate and plastic polymer pre-treatments for steel and aluminium and stove enamelling, complete the service available.
GRS is fully committed to quality production. ISO accreditation was gained in 1994, one of the first Engineering Companies in the UK to achieve this. The latest standard, ISO 9001:2000 was awarded in February 2002.
We believe that this focus on quality and production accountability has assisted many customers with their traceability requirements.
GRS has consistently gained a 97%+ rating in terms of timely delivery, quality and minimisation of rejects for five of its major customers, independently assessed by the Companies concerned. GRS is justifiably proud of this achievement, and the benefits it brings to all concerned in the supply chain.
Paint Shop
A purpose built Paintshop has been incorporated within the new factory. The aim is to provide customers with a "one stop" facility, to finish GRS metal production, as well as offering a Paint service to other manufacturers.
The latest technology has been used to minimise the environmental impact of Painting. The in house team at GRS works with each customer to assist with compliance regulations surrounding paint finishes, and to ensure that all possible is achieved with emission reduction.
